What happens during the biometric data collection (fingerprints and photo)?
Don’t worry — it’s a simple and quick process that usually takes less than 10 minutes at the visa centre. Here’s what to expect: 1. Fingerprint Scanning – You’ll place each finger on a digital scanner (no ink or mess!). The system records all ten fingerprints securely. 2. Photo Capture – A visa officer will take your photo on the spot. Make sure your face is clearly visible — no hats or tinted glasses. 3. Data Storage – Your biometric data is valid for 5 years (59 months) and stored in the Visa Information System (VIS), so you generally don’t need to repeat this step for every new application within that period. 💡 Tip: Children under 12 years old are exempt from fingerprint collection. ✨ At Outbound Singapore, we’ll prepare you before your appointment — from what to bring to how to check your data afterward — ensuring your biometric process is smooth and stress-free.
