QnA Schengen Visa
How will I be notified if my visa application is rejected?
Outbound Team
If your Schengen visa application is rejected, you will be notified officially in writing — embassies are required to provide a clear explanation.
Here’s how you’ll receive the decision 👇
📨 1. Written Refusal Letter (Official Decision Form)
You will receive a formal refusal notice when you collect your passport from the:
• Embassy / Consulate, or
• Visa Application Center (VFS / TLScontact)
This letter includes:
• The specific reason(s) for rejection
• The date of the decision
• Information on how to appeal
• Whether you can reapply immediately
This is the most important document because it tells you exactly what went wrong.
📱 2. SMS or Email Notification (Optional)
If you opted for SMS/email updates from VFS or TLScontact, you may receive a message like:
• “Your passport is ready for collection.”
The actual rejection details are only provided in the physical refusal letter.
Embassies do not explain the refusal via email or phone.
📖 3. Passport Returned Without Visa Sticker
Your passport will be returned without a visa sticker, and the refusal notice will be attached to it.
💡 Outbound Singapore Tip:
We help you read and understand the refusal letter — explaining what went wrong and guiding you on the best next steps, whether it's:
• Correcting documents and reapplying, or
• Filing an appeal (for embassies that allow it)
Our goal is to turn a rejection into an approval with a stronger, cleaner application.
