What is an Airport Transit Visa (Type A) and who needs it?
A Limited Territorial Validity (LTV) visa is a special type of Schengen visa that restricts your travel to one or a few specific countries within the Schengen Area — unlike a regular visa that lets you move freely across all Schengen states. Here’s what it means 👇 🗺️ Where you can travel: You can only visit the country (or countries) listed on your visa sticker. For example, if your visa says “Valid for France and Spain”, you cannot enter Germany or Italy using that visa. 💡 When it’s issued: Embassies issue an LTV visa in exceptional cases, such as: • When humanitarian reasons, emergencies, or urgent travel needs arise. • When your travel documents or insurance don’t fully meet Schengen-wide requirements, but one country still decides to allow entry. • When you’re banned or restricted from entering some Schengen states. 🚫 Important: An LTV visa does not allow entry into other Schengen countries unless they are specifically named. ✨ At Outbound Singapore, we’ll help you understand if an LTV visa applies to your case and ensure your documents meet the requirements — so you know exactly where you can travel and how to stay compliant.
