QnA Schengen Visa
What documents should I carry with me when I travel, besides my passport with the visa?
Outbound Team
Even after your Schengen visa is approved, you should always carry key documents when travelling — because immigration officers may ask you to prove your travel purpose, accommodation, or financial means.
Here’s a complete checklist of what to bring 👇
🛂 1. Passport with Schengen visa
Make sure it’s valid for at least 3 months after your return date.
📄 2. Printouts of your travel itinerary
Immigration may ask where you’re going, for how long, and why.
Bring a simple itinerary showing:
• Cities you will visit
• Dates
• Activities or travel purpose
🏨 3. Proof of accommodation
Carry printed copies of:
• Hotel bookings
• Airbnb reservations
• Invitation letter if staying with family/friends
Ensure the addresses match your itinerary.
✈️ 4. Return or onward flight reservation
Border control wants to see that you plan to leave the Schengen Area.
Bring your:
• Return ticket
• Any connecting flight confirmations
💶 5. Proof of financial means
This may include:
• Recent bank statements (digital or printed)
• Credit card
• Cash (optional but useful)
Immigration may check if you have enough money for your stay.
🛡️ 6. Schengen travel insurance
Bring a printed copy showing:
• Minimum coverage of €30,000
• Valid for all Schengen countries
• Dates covering your entire trip
Some officers do request this at the border.
👤 7. Supporting documents for your purpose of travel
Depending on your trip:
For tourism
• Attraction bookings
• Tour confirmations
For visiting family/friends
• Invitation letter
• Host’s passport or ID copy
For business
• Invitation letter
• Conference or meeting confirmation
💡 Outbound Singapore Tip
Even though you already submitted these documents with your visa, immigration officers may still check them to verify that your travel plans remain the same.
We always prepare a travel folder for our clients — neatly organised documents for smooth border clearance.
