QnA US Visa
Do I need a visa to travel to usa?
Outbound Team
Whether you need a visa to travel to the United States (USA) depends on your passport and travel purpose.
If you’re a Singaporean citizen, you’re in luck — you do not need a visa for short visits to the U.S. (up to 90 days) under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP).
You’ll only need to apply for an ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) before your trip. It’s a quick online form that usually gets approved within minutes.
However, you do need a visa if:
• You plan to stay longer than 90 days
• You’re travelling for work, study, or immigration
• You’re not eligible for ESTA (for example, if your previous U.S. visa was denied)
If you’re from Malaysia or another country not under the VWP, you’ll need to apply for the appropriate visa — such as a B1/B2 tourist or business visa — before entering the U.S.
